VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE OR LEADERSHIP
Poetry is something that has pushed me when my days have been dark because it lets me know I am not alone. I have been doing spoken word in auditoriums, on stage and in front of crowds since I was in 9th grade (10 years ago). Before last year I’ve had the desire to open my own restaurant simply because I am very skilled at cooking. Friends as well as random strangers at other places of business has asked that I personally make their food.
When I started thinking about giving back, I went to the Upward Bound program office at the College of Charleston. I asked would they care if I gave a class to their students about poetry; hoping that I may inspire or help someone else out of their own darkness. It was in those 2 hours that I taught this class what it means to be a poet as well as different genres of writing poetry. The feedback from the students and the class monitors has opened my eyes to the fact that doing something I love and giving back can be both done at the same time.
Since that class I volunteered to tutor students with regular class work, writing poetry of their own and gaining confidence in their own craft while being in front of a large group of people. I taught one more class for the same group of people, different group of students and the feedback from them was just exciting as the first group.
I was also a member of a group that wrote poetry over 10 years ago. The name of the group was Tainted Pen Talk. In that time that I was a member, the administrator of the group released the book with some of our best writing.
6 years ago I worked for Hulu via The Results Co. I started as well as left with the position I had begun with. Through my attempt to upgrade my position by leveling up through the company. I came up with a chat document helpful to implicate quicker responses to usual issues going on through the interactions between the viewer and the advocate the consumer would be in contact with.
Through interning for a smoke shop, I developed the idea of a phone line available to people who needed what I needed in a relationship, a listening ear. Understand that this is a general need, I ultimately came up with the idea to just associate the line to be a mental relief line for anyone needing time and a listening ear to relieve themselves of the mental weight of their problems

When people talk about support for a community they usually like to say, “it takes a village…”, I believe it just takes one; an individual cannot give a village what they feel comfortable giving to 1. At weddings we call these things “Best Man”. I would like to think when artist get managers and agents, they want to be able to look to this person to effectively guide them down the path that will lead them to be their happiest. That this person has their best interest at heart. Not only will I make sure clients reach and maintain their success, I will also see to it that I am always their one.
